Department of Culture, Archives, and Tourism
The Department of Culture, Archives, and Tourism, therefore, strives to protect the cultural heritage of Balochistan, both tangible as well as intangible, and promote tourism in the province. The upcoming Gwader project, Coastal highway, and communication linkages connection Pakistan to central Asia will open up these wonderful sites to the whole world. Therefore, the role of the department is crucially tailored to meet present as well as ensuing challenges.
Directorate of Tourism
The Department comprises the following:
- Acquisition/ collection of important archival, cultural, and educational resources from various department and district headquarters.
- Management and reservation of Archival record of the Government.
- Preserved and managed record is offered for research, administration and planning purposes.
- Acquisition and preservation of private collections of historical importance, such as important tribal families papers.
- Acquisition and preservation of oral archives, i.e. collection of the sound recording of speeches, interviews of eminent provincial leader.
- Microfilming of sensitive records of Government and other private records of national importance.
- Acquisition and maintenance of Government printed material/ publication, newspapers, and periodicals.
Directorate of Culture
- To promote Culture activities and to protect and preserve the cultural heritage of Balochistan
- To collect folk material and organizing scattered talent.
- Affording patronage and protection to Art which have been neglected for several decades and dying out.
- Propagate and project the distinct cultural image of the region by arranging exhibitions, puppet shows, folk performances of music and dance.
- Training people of Balochistan in the folk arts and other fine arts.
